As\u00a0the prevalence of cannabis testing is on the rise, so are questions about how to choose a suitable service provider with accurate and reliable results.\u00a0 An international team of cannabis\u00a0scientists assembled the following list of ten questions\u00a0to aid as a guide in selecting the cannabis laboratory that is right for you.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
10 Questions to ask your cannabis scientist<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. What training or expertise do you have to be able to perform cannabis analysis?<\/p>\n 2. Which cannabinoids do you test for? Do you have certified reference standards for all of them?<\/p>\n 3. How is CBN related to THC, and why is it important to test for it?<\/p>\n 4. What kind of samples do you test (flowers, edibles, tincture)? Have you optimized your extraction and analysis protocol for each kind of sample?<\/p>\n 5. What do you do with left-over samples?<\/p>\n 6. Are you aware of acidic cannabinoids? In samples such as edibles and tincture they can be present at high levels. How do you deal with that?<\/p>\n 7. What is your analytical methodology for testing cannabis (HPLC, GC, TLC, other)? What are the limitations of your selected method?<\/p>\n 8. What is the average THC\/CBD content your lab has measured?<\/p>\n 9. Did your lab ever test the same cannabis twice, with very different results? What was the explanation for that, and what has been changed to prevent it from happening again?<\/p>\n 10. Analytical methods need to be \u2018validated\u2019 before you can be sure they are fully reliable.
